By Car:

From I-40/I-85 (coming from the west/southwest – Asheville, Greensboro, Charlotte, etc.) look for Burlington/Graham exits

  1. From I-40/I-85 take Exit 148        0.3 mi  
  2. Turn RIGHT (South-East) onto SR-54 [ E Harden St ]         0.8 mi  
  3. Keep STRAIGHT onto SR-54      ~ 20 mi
  4. Turn LEFT onto West Main St .     0.1 mi  
  5. Turn LEFT onto James St. (First left turn.) Go through 3 stop signs and over 2 speed bumps.
  6. Turn right just before the multicolored mailbox on the right. I am on the corner of James Street and Hillsborough Road.  ( James Street stops.) If you get to the fourth stop sign, look right.  You will see a brown brick ranch house.  This is where you want to be.  Go ahead and turn RIGHT and take the next driveway to the right. (I have driveways on James Street and Hillsborough Road.)

From Raleigh , eastern end of Durham/Research Triangle Park (I-40 exits 274 and higher):

  1. Get on I-40 West.
  2. Take Exit 273A (the second one-under the overpass) for NC-54 W ramp toward CARRBORO / PITTSBORO.
  3. Follow NC-54/ S Fordham Blvd for ~2.2 miles.
  4. Take the exit for NC-54 West / US 15-501 South (it's the second one – under the overpass). Stay on this for ~2.8 miles
    Follow NC-54 Bypass.
  5. Turn RIGHT (a sharp right) onto W Main Street . (You will see a gas station on the right, shopping plaza on the left.) Get ready to turn left IMMEDIATELY across from the gas station.
  6. Turn LEFT onto James St . Go through 3 stop signs and over 2 speed bumps.
  7. Turn right just before the multicolored mailbox on the right. I am on the corner of James Street and Hillsborough Road.  ( James Street stops.) If you get to the fourth stop sign, look right.  You will see a brown brick ranch house.  This is where you want to be.  Go ahead and turn RIGHT and take the next driveway to the right. (I have driveways on James Street and Hillsborough Road.)

From other parts of Durham :

  1. Get onto US 15-501 South towards Chapel Hill . Cross I-40.
  2. Continue on US-15 US-501         5.5 mi  
  3. Road name changes to SR-54 Byp [ S Fordham Blvd ]     3.1 mi  
    Stay on NC-54 Bypass
  4. Turn RIGHT (a sharp right) onto W Main Street . (You will see a gas station on the right, shopping plaza on the left.) Get ready to turn left IMMEDIATELY across from the gas station.
  5. Turn LEFT onto James St . Go through 3 stop signs and over 2 speed bumps.
  6. Turn right just before the multicolored mailbox on the right. I am on the corner of James Street and Hillsborough Road.  ( James Street stops.) From within Chapel Hill :

  1. Get on W. Franklin Street or Estes Drive heading towards Carrboro.
  2. Turn RIGHT onto North Greensboro Street . It combines with Hillsborough Street and becomes Hillsborough Road .
  3. Turn LEFT onto James Street. (There are two choices for left. It's the sharp left.)
  4. Turn LEFT into first driveway just past the multicolored mailbox. I am on the corner of James Street and Hillsborough Road .   You will see a brown brick ranch house.  This is where you want to be.

From Carrboro (if in downtown area of Carrboro)

  1. Get onto North Greensboro Street heading north past Weaver Street Market,Harris Teeter, Fitch Lumber, Southern States. North Greensboro Street combines with Hillsborough Street and becomes Hillsborough Road .
  2. Turn LEFT onto James Street. (There are two choices for left. It's the sharp left.)
  3. Turn LEFT into first driveway just past the multicolored mailbox. I am on the corner of James St. and Hillsborough Road .   You will see a brown brick ranch house.  This is where you want to be.

From Hillsborough:

  1. Take Old NC 86 towards Chapel Hil/Carrboro. If "new" NC 86 is better for you, take it, turn RIGHT on Estes Drive and follow the Chapel Hill instructions.
  2. Turn LEFT onto Hillsborough St. (Intersection after Calavander that has traffic lights). ~0.5 miles
  3. Turn RIGHT onto James Street. (There are 2 possibilities. It's the easier, less sharp turn.)
  4. Turn LEFT into first driveway just past the multicolored mailbox. I am on the corner of James St. and Hillsborough Road .   You will see a brown brick ranch house.  This is where you want to be.
